Part 3: The importance of Ingredients in Hemp Extract Topical Products

If you would like to receive an email notification of new blog posts, please enter your name and email address in the fields below.

Here at Strength of Hope, simplicity and purity of our formulations is so important to us. And here are a few reasons why.

  1. Each ingredient does its job. When a product contains a long list of ingredients, you really don’t receive much of each ingredient except for the first few. Therefore, the efficacy of those few important additives decreases greatly. You might be buying a shampoo to help reduce your dandruff, but those key dandruff-reducing ingredients are so minimal, you’ve simply purchased a more expensive shampoo and are left with the original issue. I’m not saying Hemp Extract reduces dandruff, But! We believe so strongly in the efficacy of each and every one of our ingredients, we want them to do the job we intended.
  2. Certain types of ingredients just don’t mix. For example, we all learned in school that oil and water don’t mix – it all goes back to chemistry. In fact, fill a glass with water and add a few drops of oil. Try mixing them together, but the oil floats back to the top. Oil actually repels water and can do the same when applied to your skin. This is just one example of many, and there are plenty of companies that use synthetic stabilizers, but we don’t know the long-term affects on the human body. As such, Strength of Hope has taken an all-natural stance on our ingredients.
  3. We focus on perfect balance of formulation. This delicate balance is much easier, and better achieved with a shorter list of ingredients. And when all ingredients are balanced, the efficacy of each ingredient is increased, AND each ingredient increases the efficacy of the others.
  4. It all comes down to Trust. I don’t know about you, but when I’m at the market picking up product, reading the ingredients list, so often I have to google search ingredient after ingredient to figure out what I’m getting myself into. It’s overwhelming! But here at Strength of Hope, our philosophy is simple. Less is more. We use simple formulations made with natural ingredients – and plain language. If you trust nature, you can trust our formulations.

In Part 1, we discussed the confusion about Hemp Extract products, why we minimize the number of ingredients in Strength of Hope products and how it enhances the effectiveness of the products. We also discussed the importance of third-party testing at every stage of the research, formulation and manufacturing process. And finally, we discussed what is NOT in our products.

In Part 2, we began the discussion of specific ingredients we use in our products in addition to the Hemp Extract. We include this extended information for our customers beyond what we have in the ingredient list on the packaging because we believe it is important that you be informed. There is a reason for this. As with any product you are putting on your body, or in your system, it interacts with you as an individual.

We take care not to over-complicate our products with ineffective or non-essential ingredients. Below are ingredients we utilize in some of our topical products that were not discussed in Part 1 or 2.

Why we utilize Hemp Seed Oil in our Roll-On products

There is a lot of confusion about the difference between hemp seed oil and Hemp Extract. Hemp seed oil (sometimes called hemp oil) does not contain any cannabinoids, as it is extracted from the seeds, not the plant. Hemp Extract is entirely different from hemp seed oil. It is extracted from the hemp plant flowers and leaves and does contain cannabinoids.

While hemp seed oil does not contain Hemp Extract, it does have other qualities. It is harvested by cold-pressing the seeds. Hemp seed oil works well with most skin types and generally does not clog your pores. It absorbs quickly taking the other ingredients with it into the tissues of the skin helping them activate faster. We like hemp seed oil because it is a wonderful skin hydrator as it contains Omega-3 and Omegs-6 fatty acids which are skin moisturizers.

Why we utilize Beeswax in our Balm products

Most people know that beeswax is often utilized in balms and creams. However, most consider the beeswax as only a thickening agent, but it is so much more!

Beeswax has the ability to help lock in moisture which can then help repair and protect rough, dry skin. The most surprising part is that beeswax generally does not clog pores! Beeswax is rich in Vitamin A which aids in the softening of the skin. Overall, beeswax hydrates, soothes and conditions the skin.

Why we utilize Natural Peppermint in our skin products

Peppermint is an herb in the mint family that is a hybrid between water mint and spearmint and was recognized as a distinct species in the late 1700s.

Peppermint Oil has cooling and revitalizing qualities with uses going back to ancient times in Greece, Rome, and Egypt. These historical uses include alleviating aches and discomfort. One additional reason we include peppermint in certain balms and roll-ons, as well some of our other topical products, is that many of our customers tell us they love the refreshing smell.

Why we utilize Vitamin E in our skin products

Because Vitamin E is a natural skin moisturizer, it can help prevent dry, itchy skin. It is an antioxidant, and is included in our creams, balms or roll-on oils, because it can help protect the skin. And as part of our moisturizing products, it assists in helping the skin appear healthy, refreshed and soft.

Vitamin E has been a part of skin care for many years; thus, it is often neglected for newer, fancier ingredients. However, it is a staple in our skin care products, because when it comes to protecting our skin it is a workhorse.

Finally, we utilize Vitamin E as a natural preservative alternative for our skin care products.

Watch for our new products coming soon that include such ingredients as Frankincense, Eucalyptus, Arnica, Menthol, Cocoa Butter, Geranium, Olive Oil, Almond Oil, Butcher’s Broom, White Oak Bark and more. As we introduce each product, we’ll include information about why we include these ingredients for the product.

The natural simplicity of the ingredients we include in each product may appear effortless, but the formulations we utilize are tested and re-tested to be certain we are creating the most effective products available. We want every customer to experience Hope. We want every customer to experience welcome to better.
